Cyprus Cottage, King Street, Combe Martin, Devon, EX34 0BS
The quintessential seaside village of Combe Martin is on the spectacular North Devon Coast 4 miles to the east of Ilfracombe. It is a mere 2 miles from the Exmoor National Park which is a paradise for walkers of all ages. The village benefits from having two small beaches and is ideal for families. Amongst other things, the village claims to have the longest village street in the country (2 miles), the historic Pack of Cards public house and the Dinosaur and Wildlife Park.
The nearby seaside town of Ilfracombe prides itself on its Victorian heritage with numerous wonderful Victorian buildings. It is particularly renowned for its delightful harbour and quayside, promenade, pleasure gardens, Tunnels Beaches, cinema and the Landmark Theatre. The renowned artist Damien Hirst features his spectacular and unique statue of Verity on the quayside.
Fishing trips and pleasure cruises may be booked from the harbour and the MS Oldenburg carries holidaymakers and day trippers to nearby Lundy Island, the National Trust wildlife haven. There is a great variety of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms to suit all tastes. Ilfracombe Golf Club boasts “See the sea from every tee” and offers great Sunday lunches which are available to all.
Some of the best beaches in the country, such as Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton Sands are a short drive away from Combe Martin.
Barnstaple, North Devon’s historical capital, is 11 miles away and offers an acclaimed shopping precinct and many brand names in the High Street shops, banks, restaurants, a cinema and the Queens Theatre. There are numerous activity centres for children and adults of all ages. There are also a number of retail parks, again boasting brand names. From Barnstaple station, trains travel along a delightful countryside route to historic Exeter, Devon’s county city, with its wonderful cathedral, numerous historic buildings and fabulous shopping centre. The rail line continues on to delightful Exmouth.
Cyprus Cottage is a 4 bedroom house that is an 8 minutes’ stroll to the beach. The property sleeps 6 people (2 double bedrooms and 2 single bedrooms) plus a baby’s travel cot. The property benefits from gas central heating and double glazing.
The ground floor consists of: Entrance Lobby; Lounge; Dining Room; Kitchen; Yard with Utility Room.
On the middle landing is the Family Bathroom with bath and shower attachment, hand wash basin, W.C., shower cubicle and heated towel rail.
The upper floor consists of: a Double Bedroom with en-suite Bathroom (with W.C., hand wash basin, shower cubicle and heated towel rail), wardrobe, bedside cabinet, TV; a Double Bedroom with wardrobe, bedside cabinet, TV; a Single Bedroom with wardrobe and bedside cabinet; a Single Bedroom with wardrobe and bedside cabinet.
The property has undergone major improvements during the past two years or so and is fully furnished.
Bedding, Hand and BathTowels (not for use outside the property), Tea Towels, Kitchen Rolls and Toilet Rolls are all provided.
Cyprus Cottage benefits from having Freeview TV, Wi-Fi, radio, children’s and adult games, zigsaw puzzles, copies of Devon Life magazine and plenty of interesting books.
Parking is on the road, either directly outside the cottage (7.00pm – 10.30am), in one of the nearby side roads, or the local Parish Council Car Park that is next to the Pack of Cards public house (free).
Smoking within the property is not allowed, but is allowed in the rear yard.
Pets are not allowed, neither within the property nor in the rear yard, with the exception of guide dogs with their registered blind owners.
